There is vulnerability in that, but there is also freedom. We cannot control what life will bring us, but we can choose whether we remain open to it.
To love, to create, to feel deeply, to be changed by what we encounter, all require something from us. They ask us to participate rather than stand at a distance.
Sometimes life is already reaching towards us, the question is whether we are willing to reach back.
